AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 17
David Beckham’s vintage free kick last Saturday left San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Jon Busch completely helpless, conjuring memories of previous efforts by the Englishman.
The Quakes' wall and 'keeper were no match for Beckham’s curling strike, and poor Busch didn’t even have enough time to react. It’s no surprise then that Beckham holds more than a third of the votes for this week’s Goal of the Week.
Runner up is no surprise, either, with Chris Pontius’ goal against Montreal trailing behind for the time being. After receiving the ball just past midfield, Pontius maneuvered through enemy lines with three different Montreal players nipping at his heels before scoring the first of three D.C. United goals.
Voting continues until 11:59 pm PT Thursday, so let us know which goal deserves Goal of the Week honors for Week 17 by voting online and via text. The winner will be announced on Friday.
Here is the leaderboard results as of Thursday morning:
- David Beckham (LA) 37%
