Former Philadelphia Union forward Andrew Wooten has found a new club, signing for Austrian Bundesliga side Admira Wacker.
Wooten this week signed a contract through the end of the 2021-22 season with Admira. The team currently sits bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga with seven points from 12 matches, and are in position to participate in the relegation round along with the rest of the bottom half of the 12-team Bundesliga. Admira will be hoping Wooten adds an attacking boost to a team that has scored 12 goals in 12 games.
Wooten's option was declined by the Union at the end of the 2020 season. In 28 games, he recorded five assists and scored only once for the Union in his two year spell. That one goal was the team's only goal in their 2-1 semifinal loss to the Portland Timbers in the MLS is Back Tournament.
The move to Admira marks a return to Europe for the German-American, who spent most of his career in Germany before joining the Union.
