CenturyLink Field is a difficult place for road teams to play under the best of circumstances. But when the Seattle Sounders pass it the way they did to spring Álvaro Fernández for a goal against D.C. United, you might as well pack up and go home.
While the Uruguayan made no mistake when Mauro Rosales played him in one-on-one with 'keeper Joe Willis, is was perhaps the beautiful diagonal ball that he received to get his opportunity that won Fernández AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 27.
With 33 percent of the vote, Fernández's strike narrowly beat out Houston Dynamo striker Will Bruin's volley against the San Jose Earthquakes for top honors.
