TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension
LAFC have signed defender Eddie Segura to a new contract through the 2029-30 season with an option for 2030-31, the club announced Monday.
“Eddie has earned the trust and respect of everyone at this club through his consistency, professionalism, and leadership over the years,” said LAFC president of soccer operations, John Thorrington.
“He has played an important role in some of the biggest moments in our history, and his character, humility, and commitment to the team exemplify the qualities we value and want to reward at LAFC. We are excited to have Eddie and his family remain an important part of this club as we continue our pursuit of more championships.”
The 29-year-old joined LAFC ahead of the 2019 season on loan from Colombian side Atlético Huila before signing a permanent deal in July 2019.
A native of Perriera, Colombia, Segura has made 168 MLS regular-season appearances for the club, scoring 4g/5a.
Despite several injury setbacks, Segura has been a key piece of LAFC’s biggest moments, winning two Supporters’ Shields in 2019 and 2022, the 2024 US Open Cup and the 2022 MLS Cup presented by Audi.
In 2026, Segura has started 24 matches and is adjusting to LAFC’s new setup under interim manager Xavi Tamarit after the club parted ways with former head coach Marc Dos Santos.
Internationally, Segura previously represented Colombia at the U23 level.
LAFC currently sit sixth in the Western Conference on 42 points (11W-9L-9D) and are looking to move up the table in their five remaining regular-season games ahead of the 2026 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, starting with Wednesday’s matchup against Austin FC (10:30 pm ET | Apple TV).
