Columbus Crew SC, Chicago Fire FC, FC Dallas, Minnesota United, Montreal Impact, Nashville SC, FC Cincinnati, Toronto FC, the New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, Inter Miami CF, Orlando City SC and the Seattle Sounders have been cleared for voluntary small group training, which for each club started Thursday.
They join Atlanta United, D.C. United and Sporting Kansas City, who were cleared earlier in the week. Atlanta and Sporting were scheduled to start Monday but didn't kick off group training as players focused on CBA negotiations with the league. D.C. confirmed on Wednesday that they will begin voluntary small group training on Thursday.
On May 28, MLS announced clubs may begin to use outdoor team training fields for voluntary small group training sessions in compliance with detailed health and safety protocols that were created in consultation with medical and infectious disease experts.
The sessions must not conflict with local public health official or government policies and provide the ability for players to step up their training while maintaining physical distancing protocols. The league must also sign off on club plans before enacted.
A league-wide moratorium on full team training was put in place on March 12.
Atlanta United
Atlanta United announced on Sunday, May 31 that they had been approved to kick off small group training sessions at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground. Originally scheduled to start June 1, Atlanta have not begun small group training as players focused on CBA negotiations with the league.
Chicago Fire FC
The Chicago Fire announced Thursday, June 4 that they had been approved to start voluntary small group training on Friday, June 5 at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois.
FC Cincinnati
FC Cincinnati conducted small group training on Thursday, June 4 at Mercy Health Training Center in Milford, Ohio.
Columbus Crew SC
The Columbus Crew announced Thursday, June 4 that they had been approved to start voluntary small group training the same day.
FC Dallas
FC Dallas began their small groups trainings Monday, June 8 at Toyota Soccer Center. The team will continue small group training sessions through Saturday and rest on Sunday.
D.C. United
D.C. United announced Wednesday that they had been approved to start voluntary small group training at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, June 4.
Inter Miami CF
Inter Miami CF announced the expansion club began voluntary small group training at the Inter Miami CF Training Complex in Fort Lauderdale Thursday, June 4.
Minnesota United FC
Minnesota announced on Thursday, June 4 that they had returned to voluntary small group training at the Nation Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota.
Montreal Impact
The Impact began small group trainings on Monday, June 8 at Centre Nutrilait after gaining Quebec's Public Health approval. Both natural grass fields are being used, which allows a group of players to train in each full or half field.
Nashville SC
Nashville SC announced on Thursday, June 4 that they had begun voluntary small group training earlier in the day.
New England Revolution
The New England Revolution tweeted on Thursday that they have returned to the field at the Revolution Training Center to conduct small group training on June 4.
New York City FC
NYCFC announced Thursday the approval of their plan to start voluntary small group training at the Etihad City Football Academy in Orangeburg, N.Y. It comes after the club’s introduction of voluntary individual outdoor player workouts on May 25.
New York Red Bulls
The Red Bulls tweeted Thursday following MLS approval, they will begin voluntary small group training at Red Bulls Training Facility in East Hanover, N.J. Thursday, June 4.
Orlando City SC
Orlando City SC started voluntary small group training at Orlando City SC Training Complex at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee Thursday, June 4.
Seattle Sounders
The Seattle Sounders had their first voluntary small group training at Starfire Sports in Tukwila Thursday, June 4.
Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City announced on Sunday, May 31 that they are planning to begin voluntary small group training sessions at Compass Minerals National Performance Center. Originally scheduled to start June 1, Sporting have not begun small group training as players focused on CBA negotiations with the league.
Toronto FC
