TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension

New York City FC have signed homegrown defender Tayvon Gray to a contract extension through 2028-29 with an option for 2029-30, the club announced Wednesday.

"We’re delighted to have Tayvon continue with New York City FC," said sporting director Todd Dunivant. "Tayvon has established himself as an important member of our club and as a top right back in the league.

"His lockdown defensive mentality is what sets him apart, and we look forward to having Tayvon continue to play a key role with the club moving forward."

Gray signed his first professional contract with NYCFC in November 2019 after progressing through the club’s academy.

Since joining NYCFC, Gray has recorded 3g/15a in 175 appearances. He helped the club win MLS Cup in 2021 and Campeones Cup in 2022.

Internationally, Gray has earned nine caps with Jamaica and featured for US youth teams.

"I’m grateful and honored to continue my journey with New York City FC," said Gray. "This is my club, and I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished together, but I’m hungry for more.

"I want to keep winning, continue helping this group, and be part of this next chapter as we look ahead to Etihad Park."
