Player of the Matchday

Orlando City's Antoine Griezmann named Player of the Matchday

Antoine Griezmann helped Orlando City extend their unbeaten run to three games with a talismanic performance that earned him MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA honors for Matchday 31 of the 2026 season.

The French legend recorded 2g/1a in Saturday’s 4-1 win over D.C. United.

It marked Orlando’s second win in three games and pushed Griezmann to 12g/7a in 14 matches. In turn, he became the first player in MLS history with at least one goal contribution in 12 of his first 14 games.

Griezmann's 19 goal contributions are tied for the second-most among all MLS newcomers, trailing only Guilherme’s 26 with Houston Dynamo FC.

This is Griezmann’s second MLS Player of the Matchday Award, after earning the honor on Matchday 22. He's the first French player to secure the honor multiple times in a season since Thierry Henry’s five with Red Bull New York in 2012.

Griezmann and the Lions will look to build on their form when they host New York City FC on Saturday at Inter.co Stadium (7:30 pm ET | Apple TV).

The MLS Player of the Matchday is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
