– Philadelphia Union midfielder Ilsinho was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week for the 15
th
week of the 2019 MLS season.
Ilsinho scored two goals and registered an assist in 37 minutes of action in Philadelphia’s 3-2 victory over the New York Red Bulls at Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday. On the season Ilsinho has now compiled four goals and five assists. Philadelphia sits atop the Eastern Conference with 31 points (9-4-4 overall record).
The Union were trailing 2-0 when Ilsinho entered the match in the 53
rd
minute, with the midfielder making an immediate impact by providing the assisting pass on Jamiro Monteiro’s 60
th
minute goal (

The Brazilian then scored the equalizing goal in the 61
st
minute when he dribbled past two defenders into the box and sent a right-footed shot far post (

). Ilsinho capped his super-sub appearance by scoring the game-winning goal in the 71
st
minute, rebounding a deflected penalty kick attempt and finishing with a left-footed shot to help the Union complete the comeback (

Philadelphia returns to regular season action on Wednesday, June 26 when traveling to face the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
