Seattle Sounders FC have acquired midfielder Caden Clark from D.C. United, the clubs announced Thursday.

In exchange for the 23-year-old US international, D.C. receive Seattle's natural second-round pick in the 2028 MLS SuperDraft. Additionally, D.C. could receive up to $50,000 in conditional 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM) if Clark remains on Seattle’s roster in 2027.

Clark will occupy a U22 Initiative roster spot for the Sounders.

"Caden is a talented young player who already has significant experience in our league and has shown the ability to impact games in different attacking roles," said Seattle general manager & chief soccer officer Craig Waibel.

"We believe there is still plenty of room for him to grow, and we’re looking forward to bringing him into our environment and seeing how he can contribute to our group."

Clark joins his fifth MLS team after additional stints at Red Bull New York, Minnesota United FC and CF Montréal. He's produced 11g/19a in 116 regular-season games, including one assist in seven substitute appearances this year for D.C. United.

An RBNY homegrown, Clark was transferred to German Bundesliga sister side RB Leipzig in 2021. Though he never played for Leipzig, he gained European experience by featuring on loan at Danish side Vendsyssel FF.

Clark has one goal in two USMNT caps. At the youth level, he helped the United States win the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship.

"We want to thank Caden for his time with the club," said Dr. Erkut Sogut, D.C. United's managing director of soccer operations. "We wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career in Seattle."
